TheSTC-642seriesofsurgesuppressorsaredualpair(fourwire) modulesusingthree-stagehybridtechnology.Thismodule addressesovervoltagetransientswithgastubesandsilicon avalanchecomponents.Inaddition,sneakandfaultcurrentsare mitigatedwithresetablefuses(PTCs).ThePTCsincreaseresistance severalordersof magnitudewhenovercurrentsexceedsafe

levels.Anormalstateresumeswhenovercurrentsareremoved. Theability toselfrestoreinthismannersignificantlyincreases suppressorperformanceandsurvivability.

TheSTC-642cardedgemoduleisgold-plated,doublesidedand

isdesignedtomatewiththeSTC-642gold-platedfemaleterminal connector(soldseparately).Whensnappedtogether,thedata circuitspassthrutheprotectorinaserialfashionfromthefourField Sideterminalsto thefourElectronicsSideterminals.Terminals1

or10oftheSTC-PCB1Bmustbeattachedtobuildingapproved ground.
